Apple Picking at Burgess Orchards

Last Saturday we headed to Alpine, Utah to a place called Burgess Orchards. We have gotten boxes of the most delicious peaches from them in summer months at their road side farm stand, but when we heard that they had U-Pick Apples going on we HAD to check it out with our kids!

The morning was a little chilly, so we bundled up our babies and made our way to the orchards. We were greeted by Clark Burgess himself and given instructions on where to go to find fuji apples or honey crisps. The orchards were stunning surrounded by the snow capped mountains of Alpine and we had a picturesque morning filling a box with 10 lbs worth of honey crisps. Our kids especially loved feeding Lightning the horse, apples that had fallen from the trees.

After we finished picking the apples we got to talk to Clark Burgess, owner of Burgess Orchards. We learned that Burgess Orchards has been around for 106 YEARS and the Burgess family are 3rd generation farmers! They have 10 Acres of orchards which include 2500 peach trees, and 1500 apple trees. You can only find Burgess fruit in Alpine, Utah at their orchard stand and depending on the season, any peach or apple you buy there was picked fresh that day.

To top off our fun experience of apple picking we were able to see how fresh apple cider is made and help with the cider press process! Our kids absolutely loved it and we all enjoyed sipping on hot spiced apple cider the rest of the weekend.

We would like to thank Clark and the Burgess family for making us feel so welcomed and letting us learn a little bit more about their operation. We highly recommend a trip to Alpine to pick apples and buy a bottle of fresh cider. We also hear that next week they will be offering peach milk shakes in their cute new stand called "The Peach Pit" on site. We can't wait!
